The owners of the vessel "Pacific Pearl" came to Ovlov Marine Ltd with a request to repower their Westhaven charter, a Vindex 47.
The original engines, two 240hp Yanmar's, had been giving the customer a top speed of only 17 knots. Due to poor engine selection (not complying with engine manufactures application specifications), the boat was severely underpowered and was accruing substantial maintenance costs due to overloading. Coupled with a water leak in the hatch, the engines were worse for wear and in a very sorry condition after only four years of use.
After extensive research and several meetings going over the details confirming the suitability of the D6-330 stern drives that Peter Jacobs had specified, the owners decided to go ahead with the repower.
The Ovlov Marine Ltd team worked in with the client, boat builder and surveyor to repower and partially rewire the boat, including a new bow thruster.
The repower transformed the performance of the vessel to a top speed of 33.1 knots and cruise speed of 22.6 knots at 2800rpm.
The owners commented that they are "ecstatic with the result" and that "the performance of the engines far exceeded their expectations."
